Araw Ng Kagitingan

Araw ng Kagitingan, or Day of Valor, is the day in which the fall of Bataan in World War II is commemorated in the Philippines.  The fall in turn led to the Bataan Death March which was the inspiration for the poetry reading, book launch, and art exhibit aptly named “Day of Valor” that went down last Tuesday.  The poems in the collection Day of Valor by Pauline Lacanilao, which explore the pursuit of righteousness in every context and circumstance, just happen to be the basis for the works created by artists Sean Cura, Katrina Teh, and Sandra Dans.

The venue (Big Bad Wolf) was packed and there was a lot of fun that was had.  It was great to see old friends and new come out in support of everyone involved in the event.  For those of you that didn’t get the chance to be there at the opening, you still have a chance to go over to Big Bad Wolf where all the artwork will be displayed until this coming Thursday.
